Sweet Stampede Blog Hop – Flowers

It is Spring time and the Sweet Stampeders Blog Hop is all about Flowers!  I decided to feature a Floral Paper along with the Floral Frames Stamp Set and Foliage Frames Die Set.  This stamp and die set are my featured product of the week for this week as well, so this fits in perfect.  I created a couple gift bags, because who doesn’t need gift bags?!?, plus, how special is it that you can make your own gift bag and then you can take it a step further and make a matching card to go along with the gift bag.  The gift recipient is going to love, love, love the extra special touch you added to their gift!

Instructions:

  • Large Bag

    Start with 2 – 12″ x 12″ sheets of DSP

    • On both sheets, score 3 sides at 3″ and 1 side at 1 1/2″

    Sheet #1

    • Cut the 2 – 3″ x 3″ squares from the corner
    • Set aside

    Sheet #2

    • With the 1 1/2″ section at the top, do the following
      • Cut the score line on the left side of the paper, the closest to the bottom, cut to the other score line to form a flap
      • Repeat on the right side of the paper

Small Bag instructions will be the same except the score lines will be:

    • Score at 2″ on 3 sides and 1″ on 1 side

The rest of the instructions will be the same for both the large bag and the small bag

  • Glueing it together

    • On Sheet #1, on the large flap (for the large bag, this is the 3″ x 6″ flap.  For the small bag, the 2″ x 4″), apply glue to the side that will be the “outside” of your bag.
    • Attach it to Sheet #2, the section that matches the same size as Sheet #1 (for large bag, attach the glue to the section that is 3″ x 6″)
    • Apply glue to the small tabs, on the side the will be the “outside” of your bag and glue to inside to form the bottom of our bag.

    • Next, glue the side up to form the bag.  Apply glue on the side that is the “outside” of your bag.

  • Punch 2 holes at top of bag on each long side

    • Using ribbon of your choice, determine the length you want your handle to be and tie a knot at one end, run the ribbon from the inside of the bag, out the hole, back in the other hole on the same side of the bag and tie another knot to secure one handle
    • Repeat the same on the opposite side of the bag
  • Decorate

    • You can decorate your bag however you prefer.  I used the Floral Frames stamp set and the foliage frames dies.
      • Stamp the frame and die cut
      • Using your blends markers, color the leaves to match your DSP
      • Stamp the flowers and die cut
      • Using your blends markers, color the flowers to match your DSP
      • Die cut the leaves in matching color
      • For the stamped leaves, I used a blender pen and the Seafoam ink pad
      • For the flowers, I used Lovely Lipstick Blends
      • For the die cut leaves, I used Seafoam Card Stock
      • I then attached a 2018-2020 In Colors Mini Clip to the top of the frame
      • Attach the decoration to the front of the bag and you are finished
      • Attach to front of bag

I hope you enjoyed my quick tutorial on making your own gift bag.  Please continue to follow along to the next person on our Blog Hop list and enjoy what the others have created for you to see.
