At first, I felt like this months card swap challenge seemed easy. Little did I know that once I got started on it, this was really more of a challenge then I realized at first. Though I didn’t let that scare me….I plowed forward!
The challenge at hand was to make a card using only 3 colors. Whisper White or Very Vanilla were a free color, so this seems fairly simple, huh? I started out finding a DSP that had only 3 colors in it. That was a little harder then I expected. Searching through my stash, I found the Magnolia Lane DSP, striped paper, used only 3 colors. Luckily for us, Stampin’ Up spoils us and if you look in the catalog, they tell you the colors that are used with each DSP. So I look up Magnolia Lane….Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso. That works for me! I like those 3 colors and can work with them.
Onward I go and next have to figure out what I’m going to put with that. And remember, I can’t use black ink, so will need to use one of the 3 colors when I stamp anything. I thought to myself, I could stamp a butterfly in Early Espresso and color it in Petal Pink, so I grabbed the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set and Punch. While looking at my punches, I see the Tag Punch and decide that would be fun to use as well. That pretty much started the ball rolling and I let creativity take over from there. Along with the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set, I used the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set, a large and lovely set that has so many versatile saying that it really is a must for everyone’s stamp collection.
I hope you enjoy my creation and I challenge you to this challenge and encourage you to post your design in the comments. I would love to see what each of you come up with!
